The Ricoh Customer Experience Centre (CEC) is a world class facility that brings together the best that Ricoh offers in the fields of production printing technology and lean manufacturing. This is where we research, develop, customise and demonstrate our solutions, and here you can see examples of how Ricoh’s Learning by Doing and Kaizen (Continuous Improvement) principles are applied to increase our knowledge.
At the CEC we demonstrate what is possible with Ricoh technology and provide design and application guides that enable print service providers to take full advantage of the creative potential of your investments. The CEC is also where we test the ever-expanding range of output media to ensure that the media you select is suitable for the task you have in mind. From the CEC we supply customers with custom print samples based on what you want to achieve using your own artwork and media choices.
The 4000 square metre site has become a knowledge hub for our different digital print technologies and is a test laboratory for software and digital front ends. You can see our production printing fleet in action at the Smart Factory and we showcase our specialist inkjet development business at the on-site research laboratory. Our Lean and Green Manufacturing consultancy service, which offers tailored solutions to help minimise waste, is also based here.
The CEC, located in Telford in the UK, is where our European clients come to experience Ricoh’s solutions in action. It is staffed by friendly experts who are on hand to demonstrate, explore and test the optimum solution mix for your business so that you can be confident that your solution is the right fit for your organisation.

Ricoh have been a zero waste to landfill company since 2001 for Ricoh factories and since 2010 for Ricoh sales/service operations. All waste streams are segregated at source by our employees to ensure that materials can be easily and cost-effectively recovered for re-use.
Ricoh’s implementation of zero waste to landfill has significantly reduced the overall costs of our waste treatment (compared to disposal by landfill or incineration) whilst reducing our environmental impact of waste.
Since January 1st 2016 toner cartridges containing a microchip are included in the scope of the WEEE regulations. We meet and exceed the legal requirements by offering a free of charge collection scheme for toner cartridges from site utilising an online smart return service – the Ricoh Return. It is a self-service system that enables customers to arrange collection of used toner cartridges which are returned to our Green Centre for assessment.
Typically, toner cartridges can be re-manufactured three times without compromise to quality. The number of cycles that an item has been reused is tracked through scanning the cartridge’s barcode and by visual inspection.
Part of our global commitment to protecting the environment has been the development of a new recyclable paper packaging and cardboard pallet system. This has outstanding shock absorbent features, ideal for shipping of precision equipment and is made from pulp sourced from both recycled and sustainable sources.
Any wooden pallets used in the transportation of the equipment are formulated from wood chippings from sustainable sources, which can then be re-used as the paper liner of external cardboard.
We are confident that our solutions will enable customers to minimise its impact on the environment through the provision of new devices that have been designed with the environment in mind.
We have a long term objective to reduce our environmental impact (CO²e) by 87.5% by 2050 versus a baseline emissions profile measured in 2000.
This long-term objective includes the entire lifecycle scope of all our products and services, so both the ‘upstream’ (supplier-related) and ‘downstream’ (end-user related) supply chain aspects are fundamental areas of impact and influence to ensuring we achieve these targets.
We would like to introduce our carbon emissions reduction programme to every customer.
The starting point for the programme is an in-depth analysis to determine the annual carbon emissions of your printing activity. We will analyse areas such as your Ricoh production systems, the paper used, energy consumption, delivery distances of supplies and the travelling distances of our engineers to service your machines.
We will also help you minimise energy consumption, suggest ways to help reduce print waste in your regular production processes and review recycling practices of both output and machine supplies.
We will continue to monitor your printing processes with a view to minimising carbon emissions on an ongoing basis. This will form part of the annual Ricoh Carbon Balanced Printing certification.
Ricoh toner is not plant based/ derived but of chemical component. This is no different to any other vendor in the market offering dry toner technology. However, our innovative PxP-EQ Toner achieved coexistence of Eco-friendliness and Quality from the two aspects of energy saving (low-temperature fixing) and high-definition (color gamut extension).
