to Ricoh UK

The world has changed: not just how we live and work,
but also, fundamentally, how companies operate.

Businesses are under the spotlight and expected to act responsibly towards the environment, their employees and the communities in which they operate.

Organisations are looking more closely at their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) approach. They are asking new questions: What are our values? What is our impact on the planet? How can our business help solve some of the big issues facing society today?

Our founder Kyoshi Ichimura was a true visionary. When he set up Ricoh in 1936, he did so with these principles in mind: Love your neighbour, Love your country, Love your work. These values encourage us to constantly improve and contribute to the wellbeing of all stakeholders, including our customers, employees and society as a whole. And they are just as true today as they were 87 years ago.

ESG underpins everything we do at Ricoh. That’s why we have set clear and ambitious ESG targets. They help us measure our own performance and report our progress against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, making us accountable for our collective actions.

But it’s not just about us: as part of our ESG agenda, we engage with a broad range of stakeholders on issues ranging from ethical supply chains, to responsible business practices and creating fully inclusive workplaces.

Doing everything we can to be a responsible business is not just the right thing to do. It makes business sense: our current and future employees, customers and partners expect us to do so.

Our ESG targets support Ricoh’s wider global strategy and will continue to guide the business forward. Understanding our strengths and weaknesses across all ESG areas will help us become a more resilient and agile organisation. It is our responsibility as individuals to drive the ESG agenda forward and, if we all play our part, we can contribute to building a more sustainable and fairer future.

Meet the team

James Knox,
Head of ESG

James has worked previously worked in the public sector and private sector, bringing experience within both communities and event management. He joined us in 2015 to manage the Community Investment portfolio. Over the years, his knowledge of the business and people have lead him to his current role of heading up the strategy and delivery of ESG for Ricoh UK.

Harena Saini,
Environment and Quality Manager

Harena joined Ricoh UK in 2022. With a BSc in Environmental Science and MSc in Environmental Management, before Ricoh Harena managed ‘Environment’ at a UK airport. She really enjoys the subject because it is so varied and really no two days are the same, for example one day we could be discussing carbon footprints and the next reviewing regulations that might affect the business.

Lucy Smith,
Social and Sustainability Manager

Lucy is the newest addition to our ESG team having joined us to complete a level 4 apprenticeship in CSR. Lucy has completed a gap year having travelled to Kenya to volunteer her time and teach young people English and other skills in line with their curriculum. Lucy’s main role is to create new and exciting relationships with charities in order to offer a wide range of volunteering for our employees to choose from.
