Research Methodology

Last year Ricoh released The Conscious Workplace report, working with Opinion Matters, we interviewed 1001 employees and 204 managers for a total of over 1300 people. Following a research round of more than 200 hours, we unpacked the behaviours, mindsets and influences forging the new world of work in a post-covid world and what this could mean for businesses.

We found managers were under the most stress, facing pressures from above and a crumbling base beneath and that tech issues were one of the biggest challenges facing those working from home and in the office.

Understanding the need for both quantitative and qualitative data, Ricoh has conducted a series of roundtables to collect anecdotal evidence to follow on from The Conscious Workplace and investigate the specific ways the pandemic has impacted different sectors and departments.

Journalist and author Paul Mason moderated our roundtables, speaking to experts from IT, HR, Facilities Management and Financial Operations to discuss how the world of work has changed for them. For this report, we spoke with four Finance and Operations professionals to understand their challenges and gain their perspective.

Our participants were prompted with questions that evaluated the different costs of the pandemic, the need for operational trust and flexibility as well as how to navigate future challenges and frustrations.
